Hi Folks,

My teenage son broke my wife's Dell Lap Top with all her work emails on it! He still lives - but only just :-)
The hard drive was fine and and it is now set up as an external drive to a new Samsung Lap Top.
Both Lap Tops were running Windows 7 and have Thunderbird as the mail client.
Can someone please advise me on how I can find and transfer the old email total set up to the new Lap Top hard drive?
Thank you
Ian

Indeed, Mozilla Thunderbird is very portable in the way it stores emails as all emails are stored in "profiles" separate from the Thunderbird installation.

Find your old and new Thunderbird profiles using the information above, and then copy the contents of the old profile (The contents! Not the folder itself!) into the new profile. The folder names of the old and new profiles will differ, and for the sake of simplicity you don't want to change the names. If all went well, you should have everything regarding Thunderbird, from emails to the address book to even individual mail filters, from your old laptop in your new laptop.

Before you begin, make absolutely certain to take backups of both the old and new Thunderbird profiles!

Thanks Golden. Followed that guide. Then replaced the Thunderbird Profile on the new Lap Top with that from the old. Everything now as it was and working perfectly.
Teenage son also EXTREMELY relieved.
Regards,
Ian
