Tried to extend partition, now freezing during boot

I used software called "Partition Wizard" to extend my Windows 7 partition, and now it won't boot. It freezes at a screen that says "Windows is loading files...", shortly after the white progress bar spanning the bottom of the screen fills up.

Partition Wizard had me restart my computer to complete the partition extension, since I was extending my boot partition. Everything looked like it was going fine, but when I came back it was frozen at the screen that I described above (assuming after an automatic reboot upon completion of the partition extension). I did I hard reboot by the power button, and it froze again at the same screen.

I'm running Windows 7 on an iMac so I have Snow Leopard on another partition. I'm still able to boot from that, so maybe I can run a program from there that will fix the partition.

Any ideas?

I don't know Macs but in Windows you would boot the Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, see if it finds an installation to repair (since resizing can fail and lose the install) then run Startup Repair up to 3 times to attempt repair or rewrite of the MBR.

I have the same problem. I tried to extend partition C with partition wizard and now my computer is freeze. It displays the dell logo and the white progress bar at the bottom of the screen over and over again and the message displayed is Windows is loading files. I cannot start in safe mode, either. I pressed F12 and run a diagnose and nothing was found.
Tried to do a windows repair, but the Windows CD is stop spinning after I load the CD. Nothing seems to work
Any idea? please

Have either of you tried using Partition Wizard to recover the partition? I have not done it so it may not work that way.

How exactly did you extend your partition and what was the situation that made you decide to do this?

Sounds like your Resizing operation was interrupted. When this happens you need to boot back into Partition Wizard CD to try to sort it out. If necessary, Resize again. Make sure Win7 is marked active. Try option to Rebuild MBR on Disk tab, Apply all Steps.

If Win7 still will not start, boot into Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, click through to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times until Win7 starts up.

Make sure you are selecting DVD drive to boot Win7 DVD (not CD) then wait for it to load, select Repair my Computer.

Saltgrass, Thank you for reply. Every suggestion is valuable. I cannot use the Partition Wizard to restore partitions. My computer does not start at all. It is stuck at start up. I tried to extend drive C because the Dell manufacturer delivered the laptop with 60 GB in C drive and the other drive with 240 GB. With all software I had installed, the C drive had very few free space and I needed to extend after I took the unused space from the D drive and until I allocated the space to drive C all things seems to work just fine, but....How I did it? Used the software called Partition Wizard, free for home users because the option I tried from the Win7 (control panel/disk management/partitions wont worked). I took 140G from D drive and moved the D partition so that the unused space to be in the middle, between C and D drive. Was OK. Rebooted the computer, still OK. When I allocated the free unused space from between the drives to drive C, things got wrong.

Gregrocker, thank you for reply. Your opinion is most valuable. I cannot start the computer at all. I tried to start in safe mode, wanted to do restore last configuration that worked, but my laptop does not start in safe mode either. Tried to press F8 and it does - nothing. Tried F5 and still nothing. The only key that works is F12 but is no use. although I did run a diagnose, but still nothing.
I will try the solution you are suggesting and get back to you. Thanks again.

You can download and use the bootable Partition Wizard to look at your drive and possibly repair it from outside of Windows.

I don't see anything you did wrong, unless changing the partition size from within Windows with Partition Wizard installed on that partition, but I have not tried it. You do not say you moved the front end of the Win 7 partition so the offset should be the same for the partition table.

The only thing I could suggest is the Partition Wizard bootable CD.
