Tried to install Service Pack 1, now I'm getting various errors

Open an ElevatedCommand Prompt, and run the following command

NETSH winsock reset

- you'll be advised to reboot.
Do so, and then try Windows update again

I did two things and I'm not sure what one it was. I came across a thread of someone you were helping and I put in the commands you told the one person to do like REG LOAD, and I also decided to try turning off Windows Firewall. When I went back to Windows Update it said that I needed to update and install the newer version of Windows Update before I could install anything else. It currently is "Downloading and Installing Updates".

You really need to keep your Firewall up - if necessary, reset it to default.

Is it all right to keep it off just while this runs? It finished looking for Windows Update updates and is now looking for normal updates and has been for at least 10 minutes now so I am hopeful about this and don't want to mess it up.

It worked! It is showing that I have 52 updates that I can install, 8 important and 44 optional. Should I download all of the important ones? This updater has been turned off since I bought the computer so I assume I probably should.

Yes, definitely!

It apparently installed the updates but it seems there was some error cause Service Pack 1 still isn't showing and I seriously need it, I'm getting the 80072EFE error again, and in the list of installed updates there is one that can't be uninstalled that is KB2533552. All that installed were security and Windows updates.

I tried the NETSH command you said and rebooted but it didn't fix it.

OK - please open an Elevated Command Pompt and run the following command...

IPCONFIG /ALL

Post the results...

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

It seems that there are problems connecting on your Ethernet network.

This is the default for a failed connection. You need to check what's happening there - use the Troubleshooter that should be offered.

Your wireless connection, on the other hand, appears to be OK.

I have the ethernet unplugged, is that what is bringing up that error? I'm not sure what troubleshooter to run since none popped up. Also, a little bit ago I tried that hot fix again and it wouldn't install and the Windows Update Diagnostics still says the problem is with installing recent updates.

If the Ethernet is unplugged it shoul not be showing that output.
Check device manager and see if anything is amiss there. Make sure that you enable 'Show hidden devices'

I just tried that and it says that there is a problem with the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface and an Unknown driver that don't fix with the repair option.

I have been doing tons of different solutions, yet I still can't figure out how to wipe the previous updates cause it says up as Service Pack 1 being installed successfully under the recent updates but doesn't show up anywhere else. Anyway, I was trying this one solution that was having me input a list of .dll files into cmd and a few of them said they could load but had an error and others gave an error saying something about binary. There were maybe like 5-7 of these .dll files that did this, the rest worked just fine. Is it possible that this is the problem? This is the list: How do I reset Windows Update components?

Almost certainly NOT.
Many of the dll files that are thrown around for using regsvr32 on cannot in fact accept the command - errors are quite common in this, and are to be expected.
Go back to Device Manager, and Uninstall the flagged devices, then reboot and allow th ere-installation.

See if that helps.

I will go through the list again to see which ones they were. I did have an update and a question. The update is that now I'm back to that stupid 80080005 error instead of 80072EFE and not sure why. And the question is if there is any possible way that I could get Service Pack 1 and IE10 or IE10 (which I need for that job) at least temporarily? I have been at this for going on four days and I'm so worried about losing that job opportunity (if I can even pass the test).

I still get the error on the driver, but I disabled it since it seems it is for IPv6 and I should be using just IPv4. Also, I went from 80072EFE error to 80080005 last night like I told you but once again I'm back at 80072EFE and I did nothing at all to change that so that is odd, I guess the main focus is just on the 80072EFE. Also, yesterday I had tried that Kaspersky tool that some people claim works and nothing shows up even after running it multiple times. I think my best action is to remove the fragments of the download of SP1 and then try to do a manual install. Do you know how I can find the registry keys/files for that to remove them?

The 80072EFE error is very specific - it means that Windows update cannot connect to servers.
There is ALWAYS something gettsofgtware has EVERing in the way. Often it's something such as Norton firewall, or even AV.
What AV is currently installed? what other security software has EVER been installed?

I have Avast, Malwarebytes, CCleaner, the standard Windows Firewall, and I'm not sure it would affect anything cause it is off but I have CyberGhost5 as a VPN since the Windows one wasn't working for me.
