have an XP machine with two printers [HP 13320nw and epson rx500] connected by usb, both printers are shared.

from my Windows 7 machine (a dual boot Macbook Pro) : I can see the XP machine and both printers in the Network folder of Windows Explorer but right-click connect to them fails.

Also, /control panel / devices and printers / add printer / network printer/ shows both devices ... but if I select one and click [Next], I get a popup saying
"Windows cannot connect to the printer"
"Operation failed with error 0x0000000a"

When booted into the Mac OSX, I can print to both ... so it's not a hardware problem.

What does Windows 7 want ?

/Steven

Steven

I encountered the following error after I re-installed a computer from XP to Windows 7. After the installation I went to install a shared printer from another Windows XP and I Get the error “Cant' connect to printer error 0x0000000a“.

To fix this simply:

1. Open Services.msc
2. Stop “Print Spooler” service
3. Wait for about 20 seconds
4. Start the “Print Spooler” service
5. Try to right click the printer properties again
6. There you have it, Swish it’s fixed

"Connecting to Rx500 on D520"
"checking Windows Update. This might take a while..."

second popup says
"No driver found" ...

Ok you should download the driver for your Rx500 Printer(it's up to you what version of OS installed in your pc/laptop)
it says checking windows update because Microsoft automatically look for compatible drivers for your machine which is connected to your computer. when you download and install the driver that message will be gone and your printer will be working fine :)

That's not the problem.

Both drivers are built in to windows 7. I can disable my wireless connection, connect either printer via usb to my windows 7 box, the drivers are installed automatically and immediately; and the printers work fine.
