Trouble UNinstalling Ubuntu and installing Windows Ult. 7 32bit

Okay, so I decided to buy cheap used laptop before I really checked it out. Trusted a freind...

It has Ubuntu operating system ... I bought a BRANDNEW Windows 7 disc from my college ($7.50 + tax for a student!!!)

I put in Win7 disc - tapped F12 - chose "CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive" for the desired boot device.

It says something like "press any key to...." - but whether or not I press any key, it goes from that screen straight into loading "Ubullpoop"... i mean Ubuntu....

Any help???????????!!!!!!!

Are you sure that the brandnew windows 7 disk is bootable and not an upgrade disk?

Normally I touch the space bar when the boot from cd rom line comes up with a bootable cd/dvd in the rom drive.

UPDATE ---- randomly after trying it a couple more times... A window popped up that said ......

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then select "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."

if you do not have this disc ..... blah blah.

Are you sure that the brandnew windows 7 disk is bootable and not an upgrade disk?

YES I am sure it is not an upgrade. This is the complete Windows Ultimate 7 32bit version. I'll check the spacebar thing....

It would be best in the long run to do a complete wipe secure erase of the entire Hard Disk Drive to over-write any Linux code and then start the clean install from there; have a look through the information in these tutorials linked below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

Before we go on, could you tell us the make and model of the laptop that your trying to install windows on?

Might help in the trouble shooting.

did spacebar thing... now page is black BUT with a "Windows is loading files...." status bar... It isn't moving at all and has been on that page for 3-4 minutes.

When you get the Language screen press shift + F10 to get to diskpart so you can run the wipe.

Your Dell laptop shows only the drivers for Vista 32 bit and XP.
Most times the drivers for vista will work for windows 7 32bit.

Your dvd drive slot could be dirty or your disk could have a smudge on it. I would give it another
shot at cleaning the disk and also go into bios setup and set it for boot sequence of cd/dvd first.
and see if that doesn't help. If you get to the point of selecting where to install windows, you should
be able to delete all the existing partitions, which ubuntu creates several. then do the install.

OK you can get to a command window (prompt) through safe mode to get to diskpart, have a look at this one, don't just format the partitions, you're asking for more trouble.

If it'll run 32-bit Vista it should run Windows 7 32-bit.

wow... i dont know what i am doing different... but now i am at a page that says GNU GRUB .... it lists 5 options ....

it tells me to highlight one to boot the selected OS by pressing enter... 'e' to edit the commands before booting or 'c' for a command line.

None of the 5 choices are Windows they are:

-Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.38-8-generic
-*same* but (recovery mode)
-Previous Linux versions
-Memory test (memtest86+)
-*same* but (serial console 115200)
