Troubles with the networking in Win 7

I have Router broadband from O2(based in UK) and is working ok for 24 hours but when I try to access next day the shared files from the other computers but I cannot until I will reset the router. After I reset the router everything is working ok. Anyone has any ideea what I can do to keep everything working?

Can you please post more details on the actual router - it will likely be badged O2, but actually manufactured by someone else.

Also check the router set-ups for any power savinf settings that may be dropping the lan on a timer

It is a Thomson O2 Wireless box III TG585n. I do not see any option for power savinf and also another thing I cannot access the full rights of the router because I have an static IP. So I have the basic access for the router as Administrator.

Hi, The bad news is that this does appear to be a router with many issues, (at least after O2 have "adjusted" the on board software), There are many reports on the net of various signal drops and self resets.

The ability to get full access to the settings is I think more likely to be a result of the bespoke software that O2 add, rather than that you are on a fixed IP, as this should not prevent access.

The potential good news is that O2 are aware of the many issues and are promising a firmware upgrade though this has been promised since January this year.

Quite a few O2 users have actually replaced this router with alternative units from other manufacturers with Linksys and D-Link being recommended, the list Here shows what is compatible with your service, though this is a route you should not need to take, and I would complain loudly to O2, to solve these issues quickly.

I told them about it but they cannot help me because they do not know what to do and also I assigned fixed IP to all my devices in my home so it shouldn`t be any trouble with my network but still I have to restart my router everyday.

Is there any way you can borrow a suitable alternative router from somewhere, Friends & family?

This would allow you to confirm that the issue is with your router, which would also strengthen your case with O2.

It's a shame that O2 are tied into this particular router as they spoil an otherwise excellent service

I have an Linksys WAG325 N. It is quite tricky to set it up but I have to try to see if is working but my only issue I need an User name and password to setup the router because cannot be left empty. I tried but doesn`t work at all. I have to buy a decent router, when I will get money, until then I have to stick with this one from O2. The service from o2 is good until now

Yoy user name and password from O2 should e available to you from them, it's often included in the original set-up pack when you joined. or it may be recoverable from the O2 router on the wan or internet setup page
