I'm new here so if I do something wrong please let me know.

I'm looking for a troubleshooter that will automatically start when my connection has limited connectivity or some other issue. Normally it wouldn't be a problem, but when I leave home and have a download running it always messes up the internet connection and cancels the download. Does anyone have any idea where I can find a program to help me out?

Hello and welcome

I personally do not know of any application that can run a troubleshooter and fix the problem unattended. I suggest we might be able to help you fix the connectivity issue and when fixed you would not need the troubleshooter.

Can you tell us about you networking set up? Please include the hardware and system specifications.

Also let us know if you are using homegroup, or workgroup for networking.

Thanks in advance

Jan

Problems such as you are describing are fixable however, you may need to update the firmware on your router or find a more compatible network driver or perhaps change a piece of hardware related to your network connection in order to fix this type of problem. This same problem comes up all the time but there is more than one cause which makes it difficult to diagnose. ;)

I'm assuming it's my wireless adapter. I use a Linksys WUSB 100. It works fine for everything (for the most part) except when I download via torrents.

Torrents tend to show the problem because they push the limits of the connection. You might try going into the settings of your torrent program and limit the upload or download speeds and see if it changes anything.

In the past this problem had to do with the network driver being used but it's hard to say for sure.

I will try limiting the speed. The only problem is I don't know what to set it too. If i recall correctly my download speed is determined by my upload speed. Correct me if I'm wrong.
