I recently reset the system to 'True Type' and did not like the appearance and turned off the True Type. However, I'm now left with applications that are still showing either parts of their software in True Type or all of their software's representation in same.

Examples of this problem are: Outlook, Bookmarked (on toolbar) Firefox pages, Explorer, and more.

Is there not a way to get rid of True Type once selected?!

Hi Mark. I know this is going to sound stupid and you've probably already thought of it but have you gone to Control Panel - Programs and Features and deleted it? Probably a dumb answer because I don't know what True Type is but thought I'd give it a try. OK looked up True Type and this is a dumb answer. So I can only suggest you press F1 and get the Help Search box and go from there. Try typing in 'disable' or 'shut off' True Type.

Sorry but this is the best I could do.
I used the tutorial for finding the missing info but still could not find it. Special Thanks to PooMan UK and DocBrown for their help in filling out these specs.
Try a System Restore.
If you went to True Type say this past Thursday pick a restore point from Wedneday. Try this first then we can go from there.

System Restore will not loose any info and will put everything back.
Just in case.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

You can try this also. Use option One. You may need to run up to three times to repair all files.
This is what we want to accomplish "back to it's default state".

Warning

Be aware that if you have modified your system files as in theming explorer/system files, running sfc/scannow will revert the system files such as explorer.exe back to it's default state. Make the appropriate backups of your system files that you have modified for theming if you wish to save them before running sfc/scannow.

End of story--

Restore points only had one date choice (12:00 a.m. of the day I wished to make the change) despite checking the box to look for more (a point I will come back to).

sfc/scannow didn't help

I restored an Acronis image that was about a month old and between installing/uninstalling and copying from a separate data backup I'm back up to previous speed sans True 'junk'.

The question remains...why only one restore point with 30 GB clear space on the drive?

I'm not sure on the why on only one restore point.

Glad you have it back where you want.
Go ahead and manually make a new restore point now that it is working right.
I'll see what I can find on why it isn't making new ones automatically.

Check this. Only Windows 7 partition should be on. All others partitions OFF. You only make System Restore points of the OS partition.
You want system protection turned "ON".
It probably is set right but make sure.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/330-system-protection-turn-off.html

Then you can check and make sure everything is checked or unchecked properly here also.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html?filter[2]=Backup Restore

If you want to make sure on actual space alloted. Which I think you may have alreeady done. Just making sure.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/335-system-protection-change-disk-space-usage.html

I hope something there helps.

The screen that I'm seeing when selecting Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Restore Point only does not provide for creating only restoring?

Something still seems amiss.

I checked Restore Points just now and there were 4 points all reflecting stuff done today. The 1 point that the system had created on the 25th at ~12 a.m. and the 2 that I added with your suggested utility are gone?

When checking restore points make sure the "Show more restore points" box is checked as in my picture.

Then follow below tutorial. Make sure Step #8 is set to at least 10%. I prefer 10% or larger up to 15%. Too small and you loose old ones as you are now.
If yours is 10% now up it to 12-15%.
If your HD is 300GB or bigger you should have plenty of extra space.
I only had 160GB HD on my old XP computer and had 20GB for restore points.
That is about 20+%.

Step #8 there are three circles at top make sure the one is marked the same as in the picture.
Don't forget to click "Okay" when done. That applys changes.

I waited prior to posting this reply to be certain that what I report represents consistent action of the system.

I changed the disk usage of Restore from where it was previously set (~3%) to 10%. However, at most the system is only retaining 3 dates. In fact, with yesterday's uninstall and reinstall of Norton 360 I only show 2 dates this morning and both are date stamped yesterday the 30th.

The default (and I do not see where this can be changed) setting of the box unchecked to show more dates never displays more dates when I check the box. I see no place to 'execute' the action after checking the box so I assume that the action of checking the box would cause the list of dates to refresh.

Any ideas on why the system is not holding more of a date history?
