Trying to delete many many many levels of AppData folders ...

I have a folder on my backup drive (drive F).. which is actually my users folder from my previous pc install (Windows7).

The path is F:\SsdBackup\Users\Kevin\AppData\Local .. and that is all I can see. But I know that there are probably 20 more appdata folders levels down from there .. ie Windows 7 or some program created them and I cannot delete them no matter what I try.

I cannot see the folders .. but I know they are there .. as Windows tries to delete them but complains that the path is too long.

Is there anyway to delete them .. ? Don't tell me Linux .. as I cannot even boot from a USB drive or Dvd as my computer will not allow any option other than my boot hard drive with my OS on it. I really loved the old Bios computers not this new ***** crap now.

I have in the past just formatted the drive .. but I don't want to do that as that is my backup drive.

Any suggestions as to how to delete the files .. as Windows cannot see them as the path is too long. There are several GB's there.

Multiple nested copies of Application Data folder - Microsoft Community

This is my issue .... many many app data folders, they just go on and on. Windows 7 32 bit Home Edition.

I am running Windows 8 now and I will have to check if it is still happening.

My path is like so .. I can see them if I turn on the ability to see OS folders in Folder Options in Control Panel.

F:\SsdBackup\Users\Kevin\AppData\Local\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\APPLIC~1\Microsoft\Windows\Burn\Burn .. that seems to be the end.

But I cannot delete .. filepath is too long for file system.

This may be my fix ... trying it now.

Simply delete the "Application Data" folder right as you get into "AppData/Local"

I actuallly fixed it the hard way ... as it was my backup drive, I just formatted the drive as there was no valuable data. I will just re-run my Robocopy backup script and make a new system image.

I will just see how things work out .. as that was a profile from Windows 7. Windows 8 seems fine from what I can tell. I just upgraded from Win7 to Win8 recently.
