Trying to Disable Hardware Acceleration on my Gateway

I am still trying to disable hardware acceleration fully on my Gateway NV52 with the ATi Radeon card. It seems to escape me on Windows 7 but I have only found directions on Vista so any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE I have played around with getting all the way up to:

1 Click Start / Control Panel /
Appearance and Personalization. 2 Under Personalization, click
Adjust screen resolution.
3 On the Display Settings dialog, click the
Advanced Settings... button.



Then....




4 On the monitor properties dialog, click the Troubleshoot tab.
5 Click the Change settings button.



That Change Settings button is shadowed out so I cannot click it, obviously because Windows knows more then me I guess.

Consider downloading the ATI Catalyst Control Center and using that to tune your display adapter.

Because Video Playback is so choppy even with a brand new NV52 Computer with 25MBPS hard wire connection and it just lags. My 5 year old XP just streams video MUCH faster with hardware acceleration disabled. It's a disgrace.

Since you are having some much problems with the machine. I suggest just format that thing and install Windows 7 fresh, none of the extra crap OEMs install. Or take the machine back to Gateway.

Hey there, I did a little research for you... have you tried what is listed here?
DirectDraw or Direct3D option is unavailable
I hope this helps you out. Saves a little time as compared to reformatting.
