Solved Trying to Find Document Path

I have MS Office 2003. I have looked in the Options trying to find where I can change my path to my documents, it is incorrect since I moved them. I felt sure it was there but I can't find it. Where should they be? Thanks,

i've not used office 2003 for a long time now, so i forget how it works.

does it not remember the last path used?

When you have a document open. select 'save as' from the file menu and browse to a new location. You can do this with each file as you need to use it.

Each of the apps in Office 2003 has the ability to set the default file location, I don't believe there is a single setting that will cover all of them. Generally, you can go to Tools->Options and an Options dialog will popup. You'll find on 1 of the tabs on that dialog the ability to set the default file location, Word, Excel & PowerPoint all have it on a different tab.

Not sure why you need to set the default file location anyway. Windows went from app centric to doc centric quite awhile ago. You can create a new Office app wherever you wish simply by right-clicking in any folder then hover over New which brings up a menu where you can select what type of doc you wish to create and it will be created in that folder. If you wish to edit an existing doc, you simply navigate to the folder it's in and double click and it will opened in the correct app. When you hit Save it will be saved in the same location.

When I installed Win 7 a couple years ago, I moved my documents to a different partition. When ever I try to save a document now, a popup comes up with the old path and says it can't find it. It is a pain in the neck.

ah, so you want to change your default documents folder?

start-menu >> click username >> right-click documents >> properties >> location

I was able to put a fake directory in my old path that enabled me to see in Tools > Options where the path should be. After that I was able to change it to what I wanted and then remove the fake directory. == Thanks for all of your help.
