I've got a 4 plug USB SWEEX multi adaptor usually with 2 memory sticks and a headphone amplifier inserted, but keep getting a message most start-ups telling me to plug them into several other empty USB ports that will make everything a lot faster, but it doesn't say where they are or how to access them. Are they any quicker or not anyway ?

Can anyone shed any light on this otherwise I'll stop the messages appearing....

Thanks in advance :D

I believe the message is for either the enhanced USB ports or USB 3.0 ports. Make sure your laptop chipset drivers are installed correctly or update them, that is where the USB drivers are. USB 2.0 has been out for quite some time. It is highly unlikely you have a laptop still running with only USB 1.1 ports. Reinstall an updated chipset driver from your manufacturer's web site for your laptop. That should solve your problem.

If you plug one of the devices directly to the USB port and you do not get the message, I would suspect the USB hub is the problem.

Plugging 3 devices into an "unpowered" USB hub, may be overloading the port and also causing problems. Powered USB hubs are desirable for that reason. Powered hubs are one that have their own power supply and do not use the power from the PC USB port,.

:ditto: firebird is correct. The thing you have to remember is with or without a powered hub, you are still running 3 or 4 devices through one port. Even though it is a 4 port hub, it still goes through the one port it is plugged into on the computer. But, in most cases it will still work with a powered hub.

Yes I think it is having too many devices plugged in at once, though strangely there were days when it was ok and didn't show the message. First I've heard of powered hubs so great will get one !

Again thank you both !! :D
