Hello.

I have been trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 today, but when going in to BIOS to set my DVD-rom as 1st Boot Device, I can´t find it anywhere.

These are my options:

USB:Generic USB SD Reader (This is 1st Boot Device)
USB:Generic USB CF Reader (This is 2nd Boot Device)
USB:Generic USB SM Reader (This is 3rd Boot Device)
USB:Generic USB MS Reader
SATA: PM - my hardisk
SATA: SM-WDC my second harddisk
Network:Realtek Boot Agent
Disabled

My dvd drive works fine, just played a cd on it to check...

Any hints to what I should do?

I am running Windows XP x32 at the moment.

Try just putting it in, power down and watch for a prompt when you power up that says, press any key to boot from CD....

The only thing I can see is press DEL to get into BIOS or F11 for Boot Menu. I have tried both, but no dvd appears. I have also tried a couple of random letter (amongst them D, C, Space etc...) but it goes straight to XP anyway...

Ok, uninstalled my DVD drive, and suddenly it showed up in my BIOS. Tried to reboot, but still no Windows 7. Reinstalled DVD, and it disappeared from the Boot list...

Put Win7 or other bootable DVD in, tap the F11 BIOS Boot Menu key at boot, see if it shows up.

If not replace the cables.

If these fail, short of replacing DVD drive you can extract the ISO image from DVD using ImgBurn and write to flash stick using Universal USB Installer with Win7 in dropdown menu. Look for stick in F11 menu under USB, REmovable or HD's.
