New here so go easy
We have just recently got wifi (I know bit behind the times) and when I went to swap to the wireless there was no option. It is an old antec computer and I was wondering if this could be done:confused:. The router is a N300 Wifi router model number WNR2000v5. The computer has a Nvidia nForce Networking controller. We have trend micro maximum security and have windows 7 home premium 32 bit.
Any help would be great thanks.

It is not normal to find a Desktop supplied with a Wireless option, as they were always assumed to be fixed devices so more suitable for Wired connection with Ethernet.

You should find that any Laptops and also SmartPhones and Tablets to come with built in wifi. There are a number of options for adding WiFi to those devices that do not come with them, there are a plethora of USB Stick devices that provide the ability to connect to a Wireless Router and as a more "permanent" solution you can get PCI type cards that can be fitted into a PC case to provide access.

The normal for todays systems is to run ethernet cables from the router to fixed location where devices are located, (Wired access is usually quicker and more reliable), and set up a Wifi Network as a part of this so that you can use mobile devices wherever you are in the property

As the Wireless and Wired segments are both part of the same Local Area Network, (LAN), you can communicate, ( transfer files ETC), between all the devices, and even add TV and other Media devices into the LAN

Wireless broadcast may need to be switched on in your Router, and on your devices and settings tweaked to allow connection and I would recommend that you change the name of the WiFi and the password used for access as it could be " borrowed" by passers by if you leave things as defaults

I use an Android Phone with a free wireless monitor app to check out the wireless signal around a property https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en
