Hi. I made the mistake of leaving a domain before I grabbed every bit of data I needed out of my profile. I need to log into the PC with the old domain user profile again. I created a new user account "olddata" and made it administrator. I went to command prompt and did a cacls c:\users\strahan /e /g olddata:f /t /c and let that process. After done, I logged off and back on as olddata so it would create a profile. Logged out and back in as local box admin and went to the registry and set the profile folder for olddata from c:\users\olddata to c:\users\strahan. Logged out, logged in as olddata and it immediately logs me out. I don't even get as far as a desktop.

What did I screw up? How can I make a new user profile use that old profile's folder? I also tried robocopying the data to olddata's folder, but it had the same effect (immediate logoff).

Thanks!

Afraid not. What I ended up doing was driving back across town, picking up an old 2003 server and dcpromo'ing it on the old network over there then brought it back here, rejoined my PC to the domain and logged in with the user account of whose profile I needed. Voila! Not exactly an easy fix, lol, but at least I got all my stuff now. Whew!
