I'm trying to replace my 500gb hard drive with a 480gb SanDisk Extreme SSD. I've done it before with my desktop, but this is my laptop, so I can't dual boot with different SSDs.

The HD is divided into two with a "vanilla" W7 OS+Office etc, and a W7 and audio programs, and I'm using "Dual Boot Pro"

Paragon Migrate to SSD copied the first partition, but there's no way to copy the second. It just wants to clear the disk again. I'm also a bit confused about Alignment. Would it effect this ?
I changed the ACHI setting using the command line OK

Could I just clone the disk using Acronis TI Home, and not worry about the alignment etc ?

TIA

1. Alignment is important. Without it you will degrade performance by up to 300%. The Paragon Migration Tool does the alignment for you.

2. AHCI or IDE is neither here not there. AHCI is only slightly faster.

3. What I would do is the following:

a) do the Paragon migration of C - it will also move the 100MB system partition.

b) make an image of the second partition BEFORE using the Paragon Migration Tool - use free Macrium or Paragon.

c) when a) is done, shrink the C partition so that you get enough unallocated space for your second partition. You may need the bootable CD of Partition Wizard for that.

d) dump the image of the second partition into that space.

You can, of course, do the whole procedure 'manually'. But that is more complex and finagle with the partition definitions and the alignment.

Thanks.
So as I have already used PM2SSD to migrate the "normal" W7 partition, and shrunk it, it's just a case of using Acronis TI to dump the Audio partition on the second volume on the SSD ?
I assume the alignment has already been done when I was transferring the "normal" W7 ?

That's exactly what I'm planning to do.
I'm still recovering the "Audio" partition just now.

I do have DualBoot Pro, so that should it.
