Turn off 'push requests' for Firefox updates

This has probably been asked already but there always seems to be something new or a procedure that now fails to get those notification boxes suppressed once and for all in Firefox. I have sought the needle in the haystack of bad leads on this and they all seem different.


Is there a good way guaranteed to eliminate push prompts for Firefox upgrades?

Are you only getting notifications for upgrades? Is Firefox the latest version? Does this help?-

My apologies for a badly formed question. Push requests and Upgrade notifications are two terms
I was using interchangeably.


What I want to do is modify about config or whatever else has to be done to silence Upgrade
reminders. Those are non-stop and really invasive. I don't know why mozilla has to be so
aggressive about it since it is a widely remarked irritant.

Go to Tools, Options, Advanced, Update. Make the appropriate selection there. Does that help?

I have it set to automatically install updates.

If you look at the options, it says automatically update or _check_ and let me decide.
The checking part is the box that comes up all the time.


I've tried to find an answer on this before-- many have and usually it means going into
about config looking up anything that says update in the search box and setting that False.

Unfortunately I haven't landed on any instructions that actually work.


Blue Moon is a Firefox alternative but it doesn't accept Mozbackup to transfer bookmarks.

So the messages come up even though you have it set to do automatic updates?

You should also have the option to never check for updates.

People don't think that Google, Facebook, etc. track you?
They track you even when you are not on their website or webpages. SuperCookies!!
I install all updates, security, cumulative, M$ software.

Now you need to stay abreast of all updates, download the .exe and just run it to manually to update Firefox.

I use Pale Moon myself and Firefox's bookmarks should be allowed to be imported with the json file. I would use the json bookmarks backup file. I can't remember now, but I read that it would be more wise to use the json file instead of the HTML file.

Now the caveat to a niche browser like Pale Moon is that there are dirty dog websites that sniff the user agent and will give you grief if your browser isn't Firefox or Chrome. Especially with Google's bull crap Recaptcha. So if I have to solve a Google captcha I use my plain vanilla install of Firefox. As to the website sniffing crap I forge my UA with the add-on UAControl to make it look like I'm using Windows 10 and the latest Firefox. The UA looks like this: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0

Another thing is that Pale Moon does not use the asinine, security plagued Webextension code for add-ons. It uses the old, tried and true XUL code. So you can get add-ons at the Pale Moon site or from here when you add the extension. Releases . JustOff/ca-archive . GitHub
