Turn off Windows Auto Update

Hello,

I use a vitualization type software called Toolwiz Time Freeze that on a restart removes all your downloads etc of the session.
It gets abit annoying when a Windows auto update starts downloading/installing when you know that TTF will be removing the update on the restart (that is also needed to install Windows updates).

Any advice on how i can get windows to tell me what important updates i need, WHILST having the option of when i can download and install them?

I have mine set to "Check for updates...", and that works for me.
I get notified, but it's up to me, if and when to download and install them.

Cheers for that.

I selected ''Check for updates...''. When it ''checks'' will it offer me the updates to be downloaded as normal?
ie, i figure i only need the ''important'' updates so i can just choose those at a more convenient time/restart and ignore the ''optional'' ones??

Yes, i get a popup and notification area icon when new important updates are available for me.
You may need to check your notification area icon settings to make sure you see the icon.

I don't get notified if new optional updates are available, so i periodically manually check what is available...
