Turned off IE10, IE totally gone!

I got a problem and need help fast!

My system is probably infected with some viruses but this is another topic yet affecting the below problem.

I wanted to uninstalled IE 10 update as it's giving me problems.

So I followed the instructions.

I went to Ctrl Panel>Programs>Programs and Features>Turn Windows features on or off> Unchecked IE10.
My system did not restart. Should it restart?

IE 10 is turned off but IE 9 is not re-install. The IE shortcut icon is deleted from the task bar and running the IE shortcut icon on desktop, returns a-----'iexplore.exe' removed or changed item answer.

So should I checked the'Turn Windows features on for IE10' to return IE10 back to use? I want to use IE9 not IE10.

How is it for me to uninstall IE10 and return IE9 back to use without using 'Turn Windows features on or off'?

BTW, Firefox automatically becomes my default browser. That's weird.

Hello Cyril,

As you figured out the "Turn Windows features on or off" will remove Internet Explorer completely by turning it off instead of uninstalling it.

You would indeed want to turn on the Internet Explorer 10 feature again, and restart the computer first.

Option Three in the tutorial below can show you how to uninstall IE10 and return to IE9.

Afterwards, double check to make sure that IE9 is your default browser if you like.

Definitely restart if you haven't. Even if it did not prompt you to restart, a restart is required to finish the task. A Guy

I will always remember to do a system restore next time before I do anything stupid.

To Brink:
I checked the'Turn Windows features on for IE10' to turn IE10 back on again. IE is turned on again. Windows don't even prompt a restart.

Glad we could help.

Just to clarify, the MS link you posted is for how to remove (turn off) IE instead. It's not for uninstalling IE.
