So I have a program that requires a "twain compliant" webcam, but search results for such a device are inconclusive. Anyone know if all webcams are "twain compliant" and are there Win 7 issues therewith?

I always wanted to be a Twain driver:D
Sorry couldn't resist that. A very warm welcome to the forum u! TWAIN is an acronym for a technology that enables an image making device to communicate with a computer.
The short answer is yes. It normally applies to scanners but all webcams should be TWAIN compliant. If there are any problems Windows should download the necessary drivers.

See here: What Is a TWAIN Driver? | eHow.com

also: TWAIN-- Standard for image acquisition devices.

Hope this helps, John

Web Cam Twain Driver

So I have a program that requires a "twain compliant" webcam, but search results for such a device are inconclusive. Anyone know if all webcams are "twain compliant" and are there Win 7 issues therewith?

I was told that all logitec web cams are no longer supporting twain drivers. I changed my computer from XP Pro to Windows 7 64 bit and my camera works but my medical software will not pick it up because it does not have a twain driver.

I guess I need to purchase another web cam that is Twain compliant? Is that the answer?

Well, I have had the same problem but I clicked an advertisement on some of the forums and it got me to the Twain Importer | UniTwain | TerminalWorks page. It was a relief because that Unitwain software acts like an universal driver that covers any scanner or web camera. I almost ordered a new web cam over the web but I am glad I didn't as now all of my cameras work perfectly in various applications.
