Two computers on same ISP line - each one start differently

I have two computers on same ISP line (Cable). When I start mine it goes thru the start up screens and says Group Policy Client starting, Local session starting and Preparing Desktop. The second computer does not show any of those - it just shows the normal windows log in and goes right to desk top. Searching the internet I have found that those things that start on the first computer are needed and can not be removed - if so why does the second computer not show them? I do not have a network set up, computers are both just plugged into same router. They do not share printer or anything.

Without knowing what hardware (motherboard, video, etc) and software are on the two computers (OS, anti-virus, etc), we can't begin to troubleshoot. Please post the specs of these two computers, exactly how they are connected to the 'net (your own router, a modem/router combo from the ISP, etc), and anything else you feel might help in identifying the problem.

I suspect even if you connect the 1st computer directly to your modme it will still have those things when you start it. It almost sounds like what windows does on a new install and should not be there normally.
Are both Pcs running Windows 7?

specs

First is HP - Intel 2.6 (unk motherboard) Nvidia video card - 1GB / 6 MB ram / Windows 7 home prem / AVG anti virus / Superspyware / several games.

Second is Lenovo - Intel 2.6 (unk motherboard) On board Intel video - 6 MB ram / Windows 7 home prem / AVG anti virus / Superspyware / no games.

Both are hard wired to router - router is hard wired to cable modem. ISP speed runs between 22 to 33 MB.

Other than games on first - both are about the same. No big difference in utilities - both have Facebook - same email system ect.

You're correct that Windows does need all those thing to run, however the messages shouldn't be showing at system start. How long has this been happening? What happened just before you first noticed it?

Is the PC that displays "Group Policy Client starting, Local session starting and Preparing Desktop" per chance a work PC that would normally connect to a domain?

First to alphanumeric - No - not work PC - never has been

Second - started about a month ago - only thing I can remember - I think - was just prior to it happening was a Windows Update - I have done many virus scans, reg fixes, spyware scans - nothing found other than usual tracking cookies.

Two questions, 1. did you set the second computer with your isp. 2. are you useing the same copy of Windows 7 on both computers or do you have two license's.

Don't understand what you mean by - set - second computer. No - two different copies of Windows 7 - they both came with Windows 7 installed.

When i had cable and hooked up a second computer i had to call them and let them know so they could give it it's own ip address. They still work off the same modem and router, but they each need their own ip.

I asked that when cable installed and they advised - no - not necessary. I have checked that also and they both do have different IP - assigned by router according to techs

If you have a router you don't need a second IP address from your ISP. The Router will get one Public IP address from your modem and hand out Private IP address's to your PCs.
If you use a HUB or Switch, all the PC's will try to get a Public IP address's from the Modem. The Public IP address is what the ISP controls and charges you for. They usually only allow you one Public IP address. To use more than one you have to call and ask for additional IP's and they will likely charge you extra for them.
This is assuming the Modem doesn't have a router built into it.

Maybe I am misunderstanding entirely but it appears you are asking why messages show on one and not the other. If in fact that is the question, one pc is set to display the messages and the other is not. VerboseStatus is set by manually editing the registry or through Group Policy.

Are all users on this pc admins and are all users accounted for ? Meaning were there any users setup when you first got the pc that are no longer in use.
