Two HD drivers installed

I appear to have Realtek HD drivers and ATI HD drivers installed. Is this detrimental?

I note that the latest Realtek one is four times the size of the ATI driver?

I note that in software there are settings to "release driver in background mode" so can I run motherboard sound (Realtek HD) in stereo mode alongside my default soundcard Echo Mia Midi (ASIO)? I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

No, it's not detrimental.

I have the same. See "My System Specs" ( Bottom left of this window).

Mike,

My Echo Mi Midi is a few year old but I was pleased to see that Echo did release a 64bit driver. It is possible that this is the ATI driver.

thanks,

The second driver is the ATI HDMI driver ( for driving the sound on the graphic card HDMI interface).

If you want a bit more info, use this;

http://www.belarc.com/de/free_download.html

You can also look at your device manager,

Click on "Sound, video, and game controllers" Expand by clicking on them to get all the info about the drivers.

You can also get info on third party drivers by running

an elevated command prompt and typing:
dism /online /get-drivers

( Dism is on your windows disk, if it is not on your computer)

This will work on some boards, but you may have to play around with drivers and interrupts to get it to work. Some boards automatically disable the on-board sound when a sound card is installed. You may also get some odd effects due to different signal processing times and other anomalies. Not worth the bother really.
