Two My Documents

I think when I setup my Windows, I added two My Documents. Below are the two My Document folders. One is one layer above the other. Are yours this way or do you just have one? Would there be an easy way to get rid of one of them?

Well I don't use the standard Windows user folder structure, I have set up my own. but my "My Documents" only has one copy, it's not double layered like that.

I would imagine if you haven't messed with it, that Windows is using the top layer directory as "My Documents" but that's easily checkable. If you right click Users\Jim\My Documents and go to properties, you should see a "Location" Tab. Click that, and it will tell you the real path of My Documents.

As for getting rid, assuming Windows is only using the top layer one, you should just be able to copy the stuff out of the other folder and then delete it.

I would suggest simply taking the contents of the "inner" my documents folder, and copy it all into the upper layer. Once that folder is empty, delete it.

Hello Jim,

In addition, you might also double check using OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to make sure that the My Documents folder is set at it's default location.

Strange structure. You have a "My Documents" as a subfolder of "My Documents". And I also see 2 Favorites folders and 2 Downloads folders. Was that intentional?
