Two of My Games Crash -Event ID 1000

I've been having issues with two of my games, Hearts of Iron II and Civilization V. Hearts of Iron will play for a couple 'days' or a couple months before crashing. While Civ V could play for a while or crash instantly depending on what I select. I checked the Event logs for these crashes to get these:

Now I've run some tests on my memory and it seems everything is physically. I ran some registry fixes that claimed to fix things, but didn't resolve anything. I uninstalled and re-installed the video driver. I've tried uninstalling and then re installing the games themselves. It should probably be noted I just recently installed a harddrive and this problem has only been since then. My current suspicion is that something is messing with my CPU usage and these two strategy games are burning through the memory for some reason. Anyway, I'm looking for help. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and I don't know what other information you'd need to help. Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Please run Memtest AGAIN.
Indications are.....Memory corruption probably caused by a driver.
I suggest you run these two tests -

1-Memtest.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

2-Driver verifier

I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Sorry for the delayed response. The Memtest came up clean after 6 runs. I haven't had a chance to run the driver verifier completely as this laptop is my only means of entertainment and stuff so I'll be running it the next weekend. Thanks for the ideas though.

Alright, I ran the Verifier over the weekend and not a single blue screen to be found. The games still ended in errors, but no blue screen happened . After 4 days I turned the verifier off, since it seems nothing was being found. I don't know what to do now.

Ah, I suppose I wasn't clear, I tried Driver verifier and was unable to crash my computer. I gave up after 4 days and was hoping another idea would come up.

The response I got was Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I suppose I should take the lack of new ideas to mean I should break down and call Windows Support and then probably format my computer again.
