I currently have two partitions:

Windows 7: 230GB [100GB Free]
Windows XP: 50GB [50GB Free]

The XP partition has nothing on it because when I try to install my copy of Windows XP 64-bit, it crashes on a blue screen saying that there was a problem and Windows is shutting down to protect itself. It said if this is the first time, to check for viruses, etc. but my computer is clean.

Why does my disc keep crashing my computer? Is having an XP-7 double-partition infeasible? I don't get it.

Can I dual-partition Windows 98 and W7? Is that feasible? Or does W98 not work on a 64-bit system?

A bit confusing, but if I understand correctly you want to overwrite XP with Win7 64 bit and are getting an error.

Try deleting the XP partition first and use the Win7 installer to create New partition and format, as the Win7 partition table is a bit different than XP.

If this fails or is not what you need, please post back a screenshot of your full Disk Management drive map with listings, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu. Tell us what currently exists and how you would like to change it.

I want a 50GB partition with Windows XP 64-bit. The other I want Windows 7 with 230GB.

Whenever I try to install Windows XP on the 50GB partition, though, I error when it tries to load the set-up files. It crashes, blue screen of death, and says that Windows shut itself down to protect itself from whatever.

Can I not have a partition with XP and a partition with W7 simultaneously? I need XP to run certain games >< but I want to keep W7 lol

Shrink Win7 in Disk Mgmt to make space for an XP partition.

Use the XP installer to create and format the partition in the space you made.

If it fails again then please post back the exact text of the error message, or Google it yourself.

When I try to install on the partition, it loads the Window's XP files and then a blue screen comes up, saying that Windows has shut itself down to prevent damage. Check for viruses, uninstall recent programs, etc. to fix the problem.

Not sure why it does this; I have 50GB formatted and sitting there for XP, but it won't let me install the operating system. Can you have XP & 7 on one computer?

You need to remove the formatting on the partition you made for XP since XP formatting is slightly different than Win7. Use the XP installer to create your partition and format.

If you still get the error then post back the exact text of error message as requested to get help for it.

I'll try that guide; it looks promising.

'will post back here if it doesn't work!
