I have noticed when I want to uninstall programs, not all my installed programs show up even though they function well. I explored into my main C: drive and found out there were two program file folders. One named Program Files and the other named Program Files x86. The program files in x86 are all in the installed programs list, while only some from Program Files are in the list. What if I want to uninstall some of the programs not showing up.

Hello CPSlowik,

In 64-bit Windows 7, the C:\Program Files folder is where 64-bit programs are installed to by default. The C:\Program Files (x86) folder is where 32-bit programs are installed to by default.

Depending on the program that you want to uninstall, most should have a entry in Programs and Features in the Control Panel. If not, then check in their Program Files or Start Menu folder to see if they have a uninstall.exe type file or shortcut that you could use to uninstall the program with. If it's a program/feature included with Windows 7, then you will need to use Windows Features to turn off the feature.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Programs not showing up could possibly be stand-alone apps (no installer required). As such they do not "show up," per se, except where you place them, e.g., they will not create a directory, will not appear in add/remove, etc.

You might have run across archives that, when extracted, ask you to designate where you want the files placed. Then, at that place, will be an *.exe file that launches the program itself, not a setup routine that installs the program first.

Just a thought.
