two questions regarding image restore ...

Hello - new to W7 Pro 64. Been reading the forums - lots of great info.

Bear with me - I have two questions I would like someone to verify so I don't mess up.

I have a new system that I built - it has two 1TB drives (no raid). I have W7 Pro 64 and all my games on one drive and saved an image to the second one.

I hooked up an 80 gig 2 1/2" notebook sata drive with a device that goes from sata to usb. I want to verify the image to this third drive so that I know it'll work (takes forever to install my games thru Steam).

I follow the documentation and I'm confused at this point:

When I select a system image, I see "New Volume (C:) - is this my "saved" image? It was saved to (D:) initially.

I select it and click Next, and I see it again - \\?\Volume ... with a whole bunch of alpha numeric business.

I select it and Click Next.

Then I'm given the option to select "Format and repartition disks". I check the box and select Exclude disks ...

Two boxes are not checked - Samsung (Disk 1) and Hitachi 80 (Disk 2). At the bottom i see "The disk 'Samsung (Disk 0)' is already excluded as it contains the system image to be restored.

If i select the Samsung (Disk 1), does that mean that the image will be passed to the Hitachi 80?

That is what I would think but I don't want to mess anything up. I would really appreciate someone helping me with these two questions.

Thanks for all the help!

Just to be safe, before you try ANYTHING, disconnect your boot disk. That way if you chose the wrong disk, you'd still have an operational system...
