Typing while holding left mouse button

In some programs, if I'm holding down the left mouse button, the keyboard doesn't function (tested on laptop keyboard and external usb keyboard). In some programs, it does. Does anybody know why?

Did you test it in Notepad? It doesn't work for me there. I figured it's a program-specific issue rather than anything to do with Windows 7, I just didn't know where else to post it. Either way, perhaps there's a way to fix it...

No, it didn't work in Notepad. It does work in LibreOffice word processor.

I'm still trying to understand why one would hold down a mouse key and type with one hand.

Someone clue me in.

Holding mouse key down and trying to type does not work in my Notepad or Wordpad.

Yea I agree that is a weird thing to do :/
Any particular reason your holding down the mouse button while typing with one hand
Try two hands typing is twice as fast

I tried brushing my teeth while making a baloney sandwich. That didn't work either.

How about that guy on the trivago commercial? He tries to buckle his belt while brushing his teeth. That didn't work either.
