UAC settings

Is there a way to set the UAC to automatically elevate privilages on selected programs. I want to be able to use jkdefrag and ccleaner without having to give it permission to run every time I click on it, but I don't want to completely disable UAC either

I don't think Windows 7 support this yet.

I know, For Vista there is a tool from Norton to help you on it: (it has remember function aswell)

If it works with a norton tool.... which by the way I wouldn't let anything from norton get within 10 feet of any of my computers (unless I was planning to give it to my mother-in-law) ...there has to be a command line or something that will also do it

Hi Madtownidiot,

I played with this once for Vista and I'm pretty sure this is possible via the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit. But I can't remember the specifics, all i remember is that I stopped using this method because of the release of the Norton's replacement UAC (which I've never tested in Win7 either). I'm going to take a look at again now and Ill let you know how I go.

Well it worked for me the first time, but then I deleted it and tried again while taking screen prints and I couldn't get it to work the second time around. This may help you though. Good Luck

Haha.. You must have posted before I refreshed my page, as I didn't even see yours.

No matter, at least other readers have a few different options to try from. I just wish that Microsoft development would have allowed a little tick box (like Nortons UAC had for Vista) to solve this issue.

nah... there ought to be some kind of command line that gives apps the required permissions
