Über high ping

Hey,

So yeah, I got a very high ping on my WLAN. It's not high all the time, it's usually about 1 ms but it spikes very often to over 1000ms. I've tried various of fixes I could find on the web but it's no use. What should I try next?

What have you already tried?

What is your network setup like?

You using homegroup, or workgroup?

I'm using workgroup. The network has been set up like this: I'm connected to a wireless access point which is connected to another access point with a cable. The other access point is connected to my ZyWall 5 with a cable and ZyWall 5 is connected to my router which is Asus WLI-600G

The fixes I've tried include removing the Multimedia class scheduler service dependency from the registry, WLAN Optimizer program, Disabling autoconfig (essentially Wlan optimizer), the TcpAckFrequency fix and some fix on work offloading that I found from the Microsoft Tech Net.

Has it always been this way?

What is different when the ping is high?

Is there any process (like a backup or file transfer) that might slow the network?

It has been like this since I got my new machine about a week ago. I remember having same issue with my old machine that had Linksys NWD310N WLAN card on W7 x64 RC1.

When the ping is high, websites load slower and in-game pings jumps to thousands.

No, there shouldn't be any process slowing the network down. It happens randomly even when I'm not doing anything network heavy (except gaming) and when I'm the only one using the connection.
