uefi problems with w7

hello all i would like to ask your expertise .

somehow ive manged to loose my uefi boot options,well i used to be able to choose uefi or other,
so i read a few tutorials here and cannot get my boot drive to use uefi

here are my steps so far..i wasnt sure in bios exactly whats needed but i disabled secure boot,disabled legacy boot chose uefi .booted up usb which showed as uefi (name) started a fresh install,deleted my ssd to show one entry /unformated clicked on next to install which it does, after install there are the 3 parts on ssd like in tutorial. but when going back to bios there is no uefi option just windows boot manager,which i dont want?

i am using 64 bit w7 ga z87m_d3h mb as i say it used to be there?

any guidence would be great thank you phil form liitle nz

You do want Windows Boot Manager, which is how UEFI firmware boots Windows once it's installed. It should remain set first.

Do you have any problems with your install? Look over these steps to compare doing a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7

thanx for speedy reply as i type im making a new usb bootable as in instruction for rufus......so ve chosen gpt base for uefi ill see if thios makes a difference shortly. but getting back to bios is there any settings needed for this install

pci uefi or oprom not sure what this should be set at?

Try UEFI first all the way.

Use one-time BIOS Boot menu key to boot the stick as UEFI device, with BIOS setup Boot order set to Windows Boot Manager first, then delete all partitions to create new.

The installer will move Windows Boot Manager to top priority anyway during install. But you want to boot stick using one-time Boot Menu so it doesn't start install over at reboots.

hmnn ok i f12 picked my usb which was shown as uefi brought up new win7 install deleted ssd to show one unallocated space pressed next/ install finishes. go to bios or f12 for boot menu and its still windows bootmanager !! should i unhook my data drive? or anything else

If the install finished then what is the problem? I already told you Windows Boot Manager should be first.

ok which it is installed . Im sorry if i may be confused but i thought my ssd used to be listed as uefi in bios. that is what i was trying to clarify. thanx

No, the hard drive or SSD itself does not get a UEFI label in Boot order. Instead Windows Boot Manager supplants it.
