UK airports permitted to reopen

All UK airports have been given the go-ahead to reopen, Transport Secretary Lord Adonis has said.
After six days of disruption due to a cloud of volcanic ash from an Icelandic volcano, airlines can now start a phased return to flight schedules.

I sincerely hope that this decision wasn't taken to avoid plunging the country back into recession just before an election.

I think it was more to do with the airlines throwing a wobbly to be honest,

You can bet the decision involved politics and has political implications - at least that would be the case in this country.
