My pc started acting all slow and dragging along one day so I decided to do a complete re-install. I suspected a bad HDD but try this 1st .. The installation gets as far at expanding files and then it seems to crash halfway through .. I attached a screenshot .. Tried re-install 5 times all same result .. A few of the times windows couldnt partition the drive .. It's a 80gb sata drive .. Any ideas? It's urgent .. Thanks

I suspect it's a hdd error .. I need a larger hdd anyway so I'm just gonna go buy one and see what happens? How likely is it to be a Ram or M/B problem? Hdd seems more likely to me.

I got a oem drive so no disk .. And I can't install OS to check the drive .. I think this is a losing battle

Regarding the disk: you can download an ISO and burn it to make an install disk.

Regarding the drive: you can check it using disk tools running on a USB stick or on a DVD disk.

Download the install .iso file as Greg suggested on another PC and burn a bootable DVD or make a bootable USB flash drive. It appears you have a corrupted install media or someone give you a pirated one.

cyphir,
Sounds to me like you want to buy a new disk.

If so, then go ahead and buy it. they are cheap.

80 GB is rather small anyway.

This is an interactive forum. When we give you steps which we carefully think out and then type up for you to run, we expect to hear direct feedback for each of the steps so we know what to suggest next.

Is there some reason why you are unable to interact with us as this is slowing down the help which could have been finished yesterday? Is there a learning disability or language barrier?

Go back to the top of the thread and check off each step, providing us feedback on what happens after each.
