(XP Mode):
I have been trying to install Virtual Machine with XP Mode but find it incredibly unstable. (I have reset the memory from 512MB to 1.5GB.

I have loaded only 2 apps. Avast Antivirus and Epson scanner software. Both work. However, when I tried loading my Samsung "New PC Studio, it messed about so much I gave up.

I have now uninstalled XP Mode so I can start again!

(IE9)
On the Microsoft download page (for XP Mode etc) one is advised to read the instructions "before rebooting".

There are two icons for these instructions - one for "e-mail" and one for "Print". I select print but the moment the redirected page pops up, in the same instant, it closes. In the end I had to work the XP Mode installation out for myself. (This may be the problem).

1: What is wrong with IE9 (IE8 to me, seems miles superior) that prevent me using the "Print" option?

2: Is there somewhere else I can get these instructions?

I hope this is all clear enough...!

TIA for any help.

Ed

Why don't you try using a better browser such as Chrome? IE9 is still bugged in some ways, IE10 should fix these issues...

Anyways, you can just select the email option, then if you need to print, just print the email.

Thanks...

All the email does is take one back to the same page! I tried Chrome - not that impressed - and it behaves the same way. It could either be something wrong with the website or some deeply hidden configuration within the browser.

Well I got the instructions for you, so no big deal. I clicked E-mail and this is what it says:

Download and install Windows XP Mode at Download Windows XP Mode.
Step 1: Download Windows XP Mode
Step 2: Download Windows Virtual PC
Step 3: Update Windows XP Mode

Thanks again....

Doesn't help, tho'. The link takes you back to the page where you strarted.

Did you get to print off the instructions they advise you to read? I still can't get there!

Incidentally, while I stll don't know what the instructions say, I managed the installation of XP mode o.k. and finally sorted the problems installing the apps by bullying (hitting 'X') all the errors that kept coming up to get the apps installed.

And they work. Amazing!!!

I suspect IE9 problem has something to do with 64 bit although that should not be a problem for a Microsoft website.

If you select print or E-mail, it doesn't matter, the instructions would be the same. The 'print' option doesn't work though, its link to do so is broken. When I selected E-mail, it opened Outlook 2010 with the instructions... So it isn't IE9's or any browsers fault, but the website itself.

I don't think its too good to skip all the errors... Do you know what any of the errors said?
