Dear friends,
I am finding it a bit difficult to explain the prob.! I have a Toshiba l300 PSLBGG laptop and an assembled Desktop. Both the motherboards are of INTEL make. The Desktop has a INTEL 3 series ---> DG35EC MB.

I have installed Win.7 Ultimate 32 on the Laptop yesterday and the process was smooth.
I have a bulk licensed Win.7 Professional on the Desktop and THAT installation on 10/10/10 was silky smooth! I wanted to install the version on the laptop in the DT. No chance in heaven! The Ultimate quit the installation process with a pop-up"no Win.7 Drivers on this computer"!

How come professional installed on the Desktop in the first place?

The Toshiba Lappy too had no pre-installed Win.7 drivers,so how come "Ultimate installed there without a murmur?

I went to the INTEL site and downloaded Seven compatible drivers for the Desktop. I will install them on the DT and watch in trepidition!

I need "real urgent " suggestions and possible solutions and sites to untangle this! I am thankful for the patient reading and hope some Grey cells will kick-start into helping me!
regards,
DR.Sreedhav.

Dear nitroman 84,
Thank you for the fast and first reply! I believe (?) i am attempting a clean install, b'cause i was told a clean install is the right way.The worms from my can are crawling out now---> i could not format the HD when i inserted the Win.7 Ultimate disk and i attributed it to the Rootkit infections on the Desktop. I should mention here that "Rootkitbuster of TrendMicro" found rootkits in C drive on the Desktop and secondly (i apologize), the win.7 professional on the DT too is a volume license.

Being a consultant, i keep receiving such freebies from multinational companies for whose staff i am a consultant physician and Diabetologist!

My computer specs. do not mention that i have

1) Avast internet security 5 with the default Win.Firewall turned off,

2) Malwarebytes anti-malware (PRO),

3) Super anti spyware (bought)-->real-time.

4) Iobit Malware Fighter (beta)

5) HouseCall on-line scan once a fortnight.
For whatever it's worth i use a On-screen virtual keyboard ( not the one of win.7's)

regards,
Sreedhav.

Try to erase your HDD first with Parted magic. Here is some info on that. This will completely remove any virus or data on the drive.

Dear nitroman 84,
Top-notch tip, if i may say so! 1)HD erased.
2) Partitioned the internal HD into 4.
The OS grabs 100MB and that's the first one. C,D and E are the other ones.
3)Quick-formatted the lettered partitions (you better, before filling up the empty spaces!). The dictum here is "NEVER LEAVE ANY SPACE AS "UNALLOCATED" (Pardons for the bold type) A bit off-topic, there is a school of thought which believes that the majority of the populace (those who can) will fill up empty spaces at home and work-place,if given a choice! Now, we can add HDs to the list.
4) The Seven downloaded drivers helped a lot with,A) Audio,B) Video,C) Internet,D) network(LAN)and lastly E)To upgrade the BIOS! I strongly recommend my friends here to try as far as possible to download these drivers from the (MOTHERBOARD)manufacturer's site! The reason being, all my fav. Rootkits entered along with drivers downloaded from third party driver download sites!

In the Google search bar i typed (verbatim) "download compatible Windows 7 drivers for intel DG35EC 32 bits" and i could easily narrow down the results to 7 drivers.

It was not for nothing that i mentioned the protection i have on the Desktop. They are the minimum required ones! Instead of Avast Internet Sec.Suite, you may go for the plain " Avast free AV", because v.v. surprisingly in the November issue of AV COMPARATIVES PRO-ACTIVE AV STUDY, Avast entered only it's free version(correct me!) and the pro-active ,I.E,"stop at the gate" ability of a free AV like Avast was mind-blowing, leaving me without a mind!

Site to download the free Avast : avast! Free Antivirus - Download Software for Virus Protection

So, now i have to go and change my specs to Win.7 Ultimate 32 bit. Thank you nitroman 84, you have been of great help and thus duly rewarded!

Regards,
DR.Sreedhav

Hello sreedhav ... welcome to Seven Forums!! ;)

Hopefully you now have got your OS setup and running and have got all your updates installed! One bit of advice that a lot of new users neglect ... get into the habit of making regular system images of your system drive, as a part of your back up policy. You never know when disaster may strike, and it is a LOT easier to to restore an image than it is to do a format/reinstall. Windows 7 has a native program to do this .. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/663-backup-complete-computer-create-image-backup.html?ltr=B ... Another alternative is Macrium Reflect, which is a popular choice for many users here, and best of all it is free!

Dear Tews,
Thank you for the kind welcome. Yes, the "ULTIMATE" is up and galloping! Hey,we are in two bodies but sharing a single thought sphere! I am a SERIOUS ADVOCATE OF B&R AND MY ALL-TIME FAV. IS MACRIUM REFLECT! Pardon my bold type, it was purely for emphasis! All along, i was using the "Free version"! I will buy the software 'morrow! For those interested in Mac-Ref free, website to download : Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download
The tutorials are elegantly designed as to how to go about it! Site : Macrium Reflect - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .

Kindly read the Wiki and the links to the tutorials are at the bottom as you scroll down. The beauty of the software is with a few clicks, you can create a boot CD/DVD, based on Linux! I remember that Easeus master B&R allows that, but the process appeared complicated to me.

I just now took my FIRST B&R AND "VERIFIED THE IMAGE! Verification of any image is absolutely vital, as far as i am concerned! The one great advantage with the commercial version is it allows "incremental backups", but let us not forget the rule that it is the "restore" part that matters! That's the proof of the pudding and not once since 1997 has Macrium failed me!

Regards,
DR.Sreedhav

Oops! I urge my friends here to go for an external HD, as it's worth will prove to be more than Gold! I have a "Seagate free Agent Pro(750GB), SATA with Raid. The RPM is vital (courtesy, a fellow member of this site) and it should ideally be 7200/rpm, as,it and the RAID determine the transfer speed from Int.HD to the EXTN.HD!
