Unable to access one site without using VPN

About a year ago, out of the blue, I started getting Server Not Found errors for a regular, clean site that I use constantly. Other site users I asked are/were able to access it no problem. Long story short, I took out a VPN subscription and was then again able to access the site again, but ONLY via VPN. So now my subscription has expired, and I don't particularly want to renew it for that one single site. FWIW I can access every other similar site without any trouble.

Can anyone suggest why this might be happening, and what I could try to access the site WITHOUT having to use VPN?

Thanks

Who is your ISP?

Have you tried another DNS provider?

Perhaps Google's DNS server 8.8.8.8.

Can you ping the website?

Can you tell us what the website is?

Read this thread for ideas. Suggest changing default DNS and rebooting. Also suggest running tracert command as in Post #28

One possible reason is that your ip address range has been blocked or maybe anyone using your ISP due to troublemakers. The site owner may take the view that it's easier to block ISPs or ip address ranges to keep persistent troublemakers away. This would apply especially if the site in question isn't aimed at a worldwide audience.

RE: VPN subscription. You could just use Firefox Portable with Zenmate just for that site:

Do not use Firefox Portable if you have Firefox installed already as you'd need to work out how to keep the profiles separate and that takes a bit of work.

You could also use Frigate and enable/ disable as and when needed.

Thanks for your replies. I will mark this as solved.

Ever since I posted my question I have been able to connect to the site. LOL. This weekend it likes my DNS. That's the thing ... I can randomly access the site absolutely normally and there appears to be no logic to the times I CAN'T access it. I have installed Frigate for now, and will give some of the other Firefox VPN addons a try if needed. (I have done before, without much joy - hit and miss access using them.) If all else fails I could resubscribe to my VPN provider, but it's really not important enough.

Cheers and thanks again for your time.
