Unable to burn an iso image?

Have been trying unsuccessfuly to burn an iso image via Windows but everytime i insert an empty cd into the drive and click on burn it is immediately rejected and i am then requested to insert another empty cd? Could someone help me please.

bonesy, did you try the link for imgburn? Also some burners only like certain disc, try another brand if you continue to get the error.

Hey Dude sorry for taking so long in getting back to you but i have at last found out what the problem is. First off i bought some new CD's and tried to burn an iso image which failed but this time it produced an error.

Windows Disc Image Burner Error code: 0x8007045D

I wonder if this error would apply to the likes of ImgBurn?

I have never had an issue burning with Imgburn personally. If you get an error with it, some things to try are a different type of disc, or a different (usually slower) burning speed. It is within the realm of possibility your burner is also bad. I'd try burning a smaller file(s) to a disc to see if that also fails. A Guy

Have tried everything suggested but still no luck! I have also tried to run chkdsk and sfc scannow while in Administrator mode and all i saw was a fleeting glimpse of something or other?

So could you please tell me how i might successfully run chkdsk and sfc scannow?

I would try latest ImgBurn. If that doesn't work, try one version older ImgBurn. The web page should have a bunch of older versions. Another idea is try a CD instead of DVD blank if you have one. The iso image doesn't card if it's DVD or CD as long as it fits.

edit: if no version of ImgBurn will work you may try playing with the auto-start type settings. Windows and ImgBurn trying to take control at the same time can be an issue. Generally I've found it better to disable the built in Windows burner and use ImgBurn unless there's some reason you prefer the native burner. There should be something in Tutorials how to enable and disable the built in Windows burning.

I would like to ask one question are you able to burn anything at all with your DVD player/burner.

About a year ago on my old laptop I was not able to burn anything and it turned out to be a bad DVD player/burner and I had to replace it.

I have had my laptop for about eight months now and up until three, four weeks ago everything was fine. But now i cannot burn or play any of my CD/DVD's.

Shall have to find a CD/DVD player/burner for my Acer laptop.

Also if you have a techie friend you might let them wiggle the data cable. Might just be loose or dirty.
