Hello everyone. I just want to share my current experience with Windows 7.
I had been dual booting Linux and Windows 7 through my BIOS on my Motherboard for a long time. Well over a year and a half with out any issues ever. I used Avast FREE anti virus and never had a problem. A few days ago I did a scan of my hard drive and AVAST listed over 420 viruses. I have no idea what I clicked on. I have never ever had this happen to me. I have been using PC's since 1984. Anyways. I had AVAST do a cleaning, after that my PC was always giving me the BSOD. For so many different reasons. Too many to list.
I tried a FRESH install and received nothing but errors.Windows 7 would never complete a fresh install no matter what I did. Mainly error code 0x80070570. The solution? After a few days and many, many hours of failure. I ended up wiping the MBR with a program and removing the partition table with another program. After I did that I had a clean Hard Drive to install Windows 7 on. Everything installed perfectly with no hickups. I Activated online with my Genuine Microsoft Key and have had zero problems since. Hope this helps anyone that had all the problems I had installing Windows on a apparently severely infected hard drive.
