Hi all,

I am struggling to install 'Remote Server Administration Tools' on my Win 7, 64 bit Enterprise version.
I have managed to install KB958830 and when I try to enable 'RSAT' from 'Control Panel\Turn Windows features on or off' I get a message 'An error has occurred. Not all of the features were successfully changed'.
So, I decided to uninstall KB958830 (RSAT) from the windows update but I get the message 'An error has occurred. Not all of the updates were successfully uninstalled'. It doesn't give me any clue where the problem is! Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Jenish

I have tried to restored corrupted files from the Win7 CD but no luck. I have left it as it is for now, I will reinstall it at some point.

Cheers,

It seems that quite a few have had this problem already. This Technet post describes how to fix the problem. You need to do some work in the registry then redownload the file it seems. Read to the bottom of the page. All three links relate to this problem.

Unable to install Remote Server Administration Tools

If you happen to get a message about the RSAT for Win7 that says:

"The update is not applicable to your computer"

Make sure you are using update file:

"amd64fre_GRMRSATX_MSU.msu"

Rather than:

"x86fre_GRMRSAT_MSU.msu"

A walkthough for the installtion and which settings need to be enabled in the link below. :)

Hi Chev65,

Thank your for the link, it is well documented. I have '64 bit Intel Core 2 Quad' but the download site only offer for AMD64 bit and x86. I have followed some other forums and people are facing the similar problem (not being able to find RSAT for 64 bit Intel processor.
I think this is the reason I am having issue with running RSAT on my machine. Do you know where to download RSAT for 64bit Intel?

Thanks,
Jenish

From what I read about this problem the nameing is incorrect for the amd64 version, you need to use that file even if you are running a pentium CPU. Many people complained that the name isn't really correct.

The actual problem is that there are certain features that need to be turned on in order for the file to run properly. The walkthough in the link below shows you what needs to be turned on.
