Hey guys!

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this, but I'm currently trying out Windows 10, but I'm getting an error which I believe is due to my previous dual-boot consisting of Windows 7 + Antergos w/ Grub. (My friend installed this for me, so I'm not very familiar with this stuff.

Before I began the install, I went to windows disk manager and deleted then extended the partition that had Linux on it. When I went to install Win10, it keeps giving me errors that it could not create a partition and upon further inspection, the specific error is that it could not find the boot drive.

I've been at this for quite a while now, and any help would be appreciated!

What are you trying to BOOT FROM? Bootable USB? Optical disc? A message about "couldn't find boot disk" pertains to your "boot media" you're trying to boot from and which presumably contains the Win10 installer content, not the target hard drive to which you want to install Win10.

so how did you create that "boot media"? What tool or utility? Or where did you get it? If you built it yourself where did you get the Win10 install ISO that you then used to create the bootable USB or optical disc, and what did you do next to build the boot media?

I know it gets more complicated than you'd care to be bothered with, but how is the target hard drive onto which you ultimately wish to install Win10 as a second bootable Windows partitioned? MBR or GPT? Do you want to put Win10 on that same drive, using the space now freed up when you deleted the partition in which Linux was present?

If you could post a screenshot of that target hard drive as it currently looks running DISKMGMT.MSC from your still-bootable Win7, that would be helpful. Actually, if you were trying to boot from a USB to install Win10, if that USB drive could also be inserted into your PC when you run DISKMGMT.MSC for this screenshot, that would be very helpful in showing what's on that USB drive.

==> Please "spread" the columns shown on the presentation from DISKMGMT.MSC, so that we can see all the text in each column.

When you boot today from hard drive, do you get a "menu" from Boot Manager which you select a bootable OS from (or let it just default after 10-30 seconds to what's pre-selected on the menu)? Or does it immediately just go to Win7? Or what?

Also, it would be helpful if you provide more specs about your system. Motherboard, memory, graphics, CPU, at the very least.
