I keep getting this error, and following Error message when you try to install a Windows update, a hotfix, or a service pack after you perform System Restore in Windows Vista: "0x80071A91" and removing files manually did not resolve the problem.

Hi - welcome to the forums!

Hmmm - Invalid Class error - that's a VERY rare error in your MGADiag report.....
It appears to be caused by a broken WMI store.

Please run the following commands,

Net stop winmgmt /y
Net stop wscsvc
MD c:\wmibackup
DIR %systemroot%\System32\Wbem\Repository
MOVE %systemroot%\System32\Wbem\Repository\*.* c:\wmibackup
DIR %systemroot%\System32\Wbem\Repository
NET start wscsvc
Net start winmgmt
Net start iphlpsvc

WAIT 10 minutes for the store to rebuild, then reboot.

wait another 10 minutes (just in case), then run another MGADiag report.

By the way, how did you acquire your Windows license? - it's an MSDN-type one, and is not for general sale.

To answer your question - my laptop doubles as my work computer, and the IT guys at my university loaded this copy of Win7 on it a while ago (their department must have a MSDN license).

That's OK then :)

Your report looks fine now.

Is Windows Updates now working properly?

Unfortunately, Windows Update still isn't working :( The update seems to configure itself and reboot twice - only to revert after the 2nd reboot. I ran MS Fixit, which identified and repaired the Windows Update problem it found, and tried this method to no avail.
