Unable to Log into Gateway PC

I'm unable to log into our Gateway PC. We have two users. One is an administrator and the other is a child's log in with parental controls. Neither will allow us to log in. As soon as we click the user icon it flahes and goes back to the log in screen. Any thoughts or ideas.

First see if you can logon in safe mode. From complete power off, turn it on and start tapping the F8 key until the screen comes up to ask what mode do you want to start. Select safe mode and try to logon.If you can, do a restore to the date before the last update was installed. Get back and let us know how it goes.
It is possible that UAC, User Account Control is not working.

This could be due to the recent updates put out by MS.
