I frequently reinstall windows when ever I get the sense it's under performing, get new hardware like a new disk drive or ssd and so on.

Got a new SSD, installed it connected my old data disk that ones had windows installed on it.
Their are a great deal of folders that have an unknown account entry that prevents me from modifying or removing the folder.

S-1-5-21-####

As far as I could find, the S-1-5-21-### is linked to domain accounts.
But that`s just it, my system has never been in an domain.

I'd very much like to remove all those unknown accounts folder permissions that are preventing me from removing them. But don't know how.

Any one able to supply some guidance?

Regards,

Wild Cat

Post a shot of disk management and tell us which drives you want to fromat ( erase )

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9733-screenshots-files-upload-post-seven-forums.html

To get to disk management

:orb:start>right click computer>manage>disk management

Post the shot

This is what you want to do, 1st get any data you want to keep, off the hard drive onto dvd`s or a flash drive or whatever you have.

Then your gonna install windows 7 to your knew solid state drive with no other hard drives plugged in. Then we`re gonna reinstall your old hard drive and wipe it clean so you don`t have anymore problems. Does that sound good ?

Excuse me? Format...
Maybe I wasn't clear enough ;)

I've already installed the new disk and successfully installed windows 7 on it.

I'm not planning to format anything, I'm trying to remove unknown/orphan SID from files/folders that prevent me from deleting/modifying them.

Oh, well I thought you were having problems on the older hard drive and wanted to wipe it to do away with it`s problems, my bad.

Wiping it would remove all those unknown account folder problems.

Is everything ok with the new ssd install ?

All disks I formatted before using them are fine and those include my SSD's
The one disk, a large one, that I didn't format because it contain a lot of data I want to keep.

So attempting to fix my problem with out wiping any disk
