Unable to sent documents to DVD Drive

I used to be able to send any document to the CD/DVD drive by right-clicking the required document and selecting "Send To" and then DVD Drive.
Now the "Send To" drop down menu does not include a DVD/CD drive.
I accessed the "SendTo" folder and found it did not have the required shortcut. I have added it now. However; it still does not appear in the drop-down menu.
A possible clue is that if I go to "Computer"; the drive is listed as CD drive (not DVD/CD). Maybe the computer thinks that I only have a CD "read only" drive. And thus is not offering me the option to send a file to it?
Please advise me

Really this should not hav gone in the Music, Pictures & Video Forum but perhaps a Mod will move it to a more appropriate forum
Lets see if your DVD drive is OK.
Click the Start Button, then in the menu Right Click on Computer, then in the menu click Manage, then in the left hand pane that opens click "Device Manager" the look down for the DVD drive and click the little open arrow head to the left of DVD\CD drives and that should show your DVD drive. Double click on this and if that says it is working properly click on the Driver tab and then click "Update Driver" and and choose the top option to auto search for update. Then follow the screen if it finds a better driver.

Good Afternoon "Mitchell65"
Thank you for trying to help. I had already tried all what you advised. Another clue to my problem is that for some months now, Whenever I insert a DVD or CD disk into the drive or insert a USB item or a SD card; I never get an autoplay menu. (I have been into the Autoplay page and it is set to always autoplay and each item is set to "always ask".)
I can play a DVD film. I have to insert it, then go to "Computer" and right-click the CD drive and choose a player

Have you got any other DVD or CD burning software on your machine. If not try downloading and installing Burnaware Free from here:

It is a very good program an is free!

I have just looked at my list of programs. I'm not sure if the following are all disc burning ones, but here goes - Express Burn, Windows DVD Maker, Windows Live Movie Maker, Cyberlink Power DVD 8, Power DVD 8, DIvX Plus, DVD Flick, ISObuster, NTI Media Maker 8, ConvertXtoDVD4.
The only one of these which appears in the drop down "send to" menu is "ISObuster". That one appears in the "normal" selection and in the "Expanded selection" (with shift employed).
My anti-virus is automatically updated by "Avast"

I cheated to solve the problem - by using a Restore point created 3 weeks ago. So my DVD Drive is now usable again. However the "Autoplay" is still not working. I will start a new thread about that. Thanks again "Mitchell65"

Using a Restore point is certainly not cheating, that's exactly what they are there for. As you are starting a new thread I will ask for this one to be marked "Solved". Hope that's OK with you?

I reguarded a restore as a cheat because it was "too easy". I did not learn was caused the problem or what the problem actually was. So, if it happens again I can only hope that I have a suitable backup to use. By the way, I found that there was another fault in that my auto backups onto the HDD had all been deleted and the facility to have further backups automatically or manually was disabled. After the Restoration had taken place; that further fault was also rectified.
