Unable to shrink windows 7 partition without errors

Hi, I've been trying for the past two days to re-install windows 7. It would work fine if I had more disk space available which is my problem. I have 74.5GB's available on my laptop, but unable to get more than 3GB clear at a time, and I need about 7GB's to reinstall my windows 7.

When I try to shrink the partition, it tells me to run a chkdsk. I've ran chkdsk several times but it always stops at 9% and gives me an error. I've also compressedd the disk, and did a disk cleanup. Nothing works. I have a user file that isn't in use that I would like to delete as well, which is several GB's large, but each time I try, it gives me an error. I'm losing patience as to what to do. Each time I have GB's cleared up, somehow they fill back up really quickly.

Edit: Whenever I try deleting my user file, it gives me error 0x80070570

uncompress the drive, turn off recycle bin and reduce the paging file in system, performance tab, advanced, try 64Mb...then reboot and see what u can do...

The Disk Check cannot be ignored as it may portend a failing HD.

Move the data off of the HD to external, another computer on network, DVD's or to Skydrive which offers free 7gb storage per Windows Live ID and is cheap to buy more - you can then access your files from anywhere or even sync your machines to your files using Sync Any Folder to Your SkyDrive Account.

Once data is backed up wipe the HD with Diskpart Clean Command, test the HD with maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, then repartition in Disk Mgmt or using installer or free Partition Wizard bootable CD, check file system again, install and copy important data back in only if HD passes all tests.

I'll try this first as I'm not good with computers. If it doesn't work, I'll try gregrockers idea. I'm uncompressing my drive now, and turned off recycling bin. How would I reduce the paging file? I'm really not good with this.

I decided to go ahead and try the clean all command prompt, but got this:

''Clean is not allowed on the disk containing the current boot, system, pagefile, crashdump, or hibernation volume.''

You'll need to run Diskpart Clean Command from the installer's System Recovery Options Command Line.

Be sure you've backed everything up as it wipes the entire HD. Unplug all other HD's and peripherals.

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to get a perfect reinstall, even for retail.
