Unable to start most programs, error (0xc0150004)

Basically, whenever I try and open most any installed program other than the ones that come preinstalled, I get an error code saying "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150004)"

I also can't run anything I download, or I get an error saying "The exception unknown software exception (0xc06d007e) occurred in the application at location 0x74f4c41f." At least when I download Flash player.

I've tried a Clean Boot, and running sfc /scannow. Still not fixed. Help?

You may want to try and do a memory scan using Memtest86. Odd error messages and behavior can be caused by a bad stick of memory.

Went to their site, can't download it. Same error as in the original post. I've just built the computer on Sunday, and everythings been working fine up until now.

Try shutting down and removing one of the sticks of memory and booting back up. If the errors stop you have a bad stick. swap sticks to test both.

Ideally you still want to scan the sticks for errors at some point to confirm.

I tried to restore, said that it couldn't restore completely because of my antivirus, and to turn it off and restore again. Thing is, I can't open AVG to stop it. Would I be able to just uninstall it completely and try again?

Remove AVG. Use AVG online uninstaller. Install this from Microsoft.

Can't uninstall AVG, or any program in the uninstall menu for that matter. Clicking the button does nothing.

Are you in the Add and Remove program?
Are you the administrator?

Try system restore from "recovery environment".

Thanks, i'll try that. If it doesn't work I can always just install Windows again, i've got all the drivers on a flash drive and I just built the computer on Sunday. Not gonna lose much.

Oh, I was in the uninstall programs menu. Mine has a button that says uninstall, don't know if it's different than yours. But it wouldn't do anything when I clicked it.

I only have once account, so i'm assuming that it was an administrator.
