I would love, love, love to remove Explorer++ 64-bit version, which just refuses to die. Followed the author's uninstall steps (in its menu, tell it not to replace Windows Explorer then delete .exe file), nada - it still opens when I double-click a file in Windows Explorer. Here is the Windows Explorer context menu showing "Open in Explorer++" at the top. What should I do - drive a stake through its annoying little heart?

Did you do everything that the FAQ said

Simply delete the executable. If you'd like, you can also remove your settings by deleting config.xml and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Explorer++.
Important: If Explorer++ is set as the default file manager, make sure you select "Don't replace Explorer" before you delete the application.

Thanks. Yes, I completed those steps, and then double-clicking a folder in Windows Explorer produces an "Application not found" error. Copying the Explorer++ folder into the original location restores the default behavior (double-clicking a folder in Windows Explorer opens Explorer++).

Explorer++ doesn't require installation, yet it takes over the folder-opening function in Windows Explorer. Removing the registry item doesn't change this, even after a reboot.

BlueRobot, many thanks. That worked. Specifically:
Remove it as the default file manager?

Uncheck Tools>Options>Replace Explorer for filesystem folders, or run the command:

explorer++.exe -remove_as_default

Just note that you'll need to run Explorer++ with administrative privileges for the above to work.
My boldface - this was the step I had omitted.

I did not have to use the command: explorer++.exe -remove_as_default. Just to satisfy curiosity, where would one enter that command. It doesn't work in the Win7 "Run" dialog.

P.S. I have Revo Uninstaller which I like, but Explorer++ doesn't require installing so it doesn't show up in Revo.

I'm guessing you have to enter it in a command prompt :)
