Unable to update drivers

Don't know what's going on here, but I recently noticed in devices and printers that I am unable to update drivers for anything.

If anyone could leave feedback on how to fix this issue, it would be much appreciated, as well as if this is something common.

I'm thinking of doing a windows reboot but it's a custom built PC, my friend who built it has moved away and it's hard to get in touch with him because he's always so busy. So it means reinstalling the graphics card and keeping the partition so I don't lose anything (it's not recognising new USB externals either, I've had a quite a few problems with it recently).

Regards-

BOC.

There may be other, more technical help from others, but I suggest that at the moment you go to: -

Start - Help and Support - (type in search box) - Device Drivers -

Initially, I suggest you try No. 4 - Tips for Fixing Common Driver Problems.

If that is no assistance, try working through other options. Sorry if this is not more explanatory and i hope you get more technical advice, but I can usually fix most things via Help and Support. It's normally all about typing in the right question.

EDIT: it might help if you could give your PC details: Win7 type, motherboard, CPU, etc. Did the guy who 'custom built' it, leave you any of these?

Unfortunetly no, he didn't. I barely hear from him now, as he's moved so far away. If he still lived in the area, I would have no problems at all, as he's a top notch computer techie.

Initially, I suggest you try No. 4 - Tips for Fixing Common Driver Problems.

I tried doing that, but the option wasn't displayed. I left a pic on what options came up.

Thanks for the advice anyway Bert. ;)
