I am using Vista Ultimate in the trial period. I want to upgrade to Windows 7. But I am unable to upgrade. I get the message -
You need to be running WIndows Vista with SP1 or later to upgrage.
Can I upgrade this trial version to activated Windows 7?

Regards.

What trial version? There is no trial version. You should not install Windows if you haven't purchased it.

Where did you get WIn7 upgrade? If you don't own a copy of Vista or XP then you don't qualify for Upgrade version. If you do then you can Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version even if the qualifying OS isn't installed, or activate Vista to run the Upgrade install.

As mentioned, there is no "trial" version of Vista; instead, you can run it without activating for 30 days inititially, and extended that to 120 days with some known workarounds.

You might not be able to upgrade to SP1, because it may have to be activated to download that Service Pack and install it.
