Hello

Today right before I can install windows 7 into my new pc one of my unallocated hdd happened to be split into 2.

Was wondering would anyone happened to know the cause of this issue and know any way to fix it before installing windows 7. Many thanks in advance.

Your hard drive is using the MBR (Master Boot Record) format and the maximum partition size for this is 2TB. If you want to use the whole disk size you must reformat it under the GPT (GUID Partition Table) format which is what the 'Disk 1 Unallocated Space' is currently set as.

To change this, boot into Windows after setup and go to the Disk Management tool under Computer Management. The guide below will explain how:

To use a 3TB/4tb HDD as a boot drive, you need a motherboard with a UEFI/BIOS firmware.

Remove the two 3tb./4tb HDD's & install Windows 7 x64 to the 500gb HDD.

Or you can install to 500gb as suggested, then plug back in the larger drives, change them to GPT in Disk Mgmt as also suggested, then use them as data drive. Theog's point is that you just can't boot Win7 off a GPT drive unless you have UEFI. If so, boot the installer as a UEFI DVD or stick to install.
